Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to solicit on a sole source basis with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc., Norwood, MA pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the acquisition of Laboratory equipment and supplies, S/N 067-B661-02 – CN Free Conversion Kit, 453-0024-15 AVDIA 120 Basic w/Auto Waste and 067-B574-05 MultiSpecies Software Kit (120). The equipment will be used in the hematology laboratory, as part of the Histology Core Facility within CMPB. The ADVIA 120 instrument permits assessment of the individual animal’s clinical status through a combination of numeric results, morphology flags, cytograms and histograms, affording additional information on abnormal blood cells that will aid in the diagnosis of treatment-related hematologic insults providing insights into potential mechanisms involved. The ADVIA 120 is the only hematology analyzer making this possible. This determination of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however all responses received within ten days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within ten days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, the order will be issued to Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500 Employees. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12 Commercial Item Acquisition of Commercial Items.
