Description
The purpose of this effort is to fund additional work to provide continued analytical engineering studies to support the HH-60, H-1 variants, and Mi-8 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) as part of the overall Aging Aircraft Sustainment effort. This effort addresses those concerns through investigation of life predictions and failure analyses that are a direct concern of long-term aircraft use, consideration of corrosion effects that are seen on aircraft after a substantial time in service, consideration of the effects of new structure that has been added to the aircraft through modifications and upgrades, and investigation of aircraft usage over its service life and the comparison of that usage to original design intent. This program will focus on identifying and solving specific rotary-wing aircraft (H-60/H-1/Mi-8) structural integrity issues, especially those issues associated with the 20-30+ age of the aircraft. This acquisition is sole source to Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC) (CAGE 1WDH9). Reference Authority: 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(3) as implemented by FAR 6.302-3, Industrial mobilization; engineering, development, or research capability; or expert services. Performance Destination: Contractor's Facility. Period of Performance: 12 months ARO under Option I. Electronic procedures will be used for this solicitation; request a solicitation from http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. Approximate solicitation date is 22 August 2011. All potential offerors should contact the buyer, William Clark at 478-926-2408 or William Walton at 478-926-7525, for additional information and/or to communicate concerns, if any, regarding this acquisition.
