Description
The spine program at Syracuse VA Medical Center currently has a procurement request for an Operating Room Table to perform spine procedures. This sources sought notice is to determine if there is an opportunity to set this procurement aside as a sole source or a competitive procurement. This notice also seeks to determine if there is a potential for a Set Aside (based on the VA Small business goals). Interested parties that can respond to this Sources Sought must provide evidence that they have a potential to meet the requirements as identified herein. Description of requirement: The table must provide a variety of spinal surgeries to allow patient positioning in supine, prone and lateral positions in the safest manner. The following points are critically important towards the goals of reducing patient and staff safety risks, providing better surgical outcomes: especially important in longer duration surgeries and in obese patients. Approximate Specifications: Height Range: 27" - 48"; Trendelenberg/Reverse; Trendelenberg: 10 ° Lateral Tilt: 25 °; Top Width: 17"; Imaging Top Width: 21 1/2"; Imaging Top Length: 84"; Patient Weight Capacity: 500 lbs. The system must provide the following benefits: Complete radiolucency - carbon fiber composition. This is the most important feature as most spinal and orthopedic surgeries require intraoperative imaging. As we are doing more minimal access surgeries complete radiolucency of the table is most important. Unrestricted C-arm access - NP, lateral and oblique views intraoperatively. As there is no central table support like in float top tables it is really easy to navigate the C arm under the table. Optimal patient positioning - This is an important benefit in regards to patient comfort and safety during the procedure. Supine, prone and lateral positioning is possible by changing the table top. In patients with unstable spine it is possible to place the patient supine and then flip the patient on the table by 'sandwich technique'. This protects the patient from any neurological damage by keeping the spine stable during the flip. Accomodating obese patients - With an increasingly heavier patient population, safe and effective patient positioning is one of the greatest challenges faced by surgeons and staff. The 5001b. weight capacity on the system will allow safe patient positioning on all patients and will certainly reduce the safety risk associated with heavier patients. The prone frame must be wide and allow the patients abdomen to hand completely free of any pressure. This makes it easier to accommodate obese patients. Most importantly it can reduce pressure related skin problems following long surgeries. The 180 ° rotation feature of the table must allow patient to be transferred from the stretcher to the flat Imaging top of the table in a supine position and rotated easily and safely to a prone position with no rolling or lifting of the patient eliminating risk of injury to staff and patients in case of obese patients. Minimized blood loss and reduces OR time - As it lets the abdomen hang freely, it reduces vena cava compression and consequently intraoperative bleeding. The table must equalize pressure load against the body, reduces the incidence of nosocomial pressure ulcers, enhances patient comfort Rotational Capability 360 ° - table top rotation allows spinal fusions without the need for patient repositioning. When anterior fusion is complete, patient can be rotated 180 ° for surgical access to posterior spine. All parties must be registered in www.ccr.gov to be eligible for award. Interested Parties must respond electronically to: Denise.Edmonds@va.gov
