- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN-6 VA Healthcare System is requesting information related to vendors capable of providing healthcare beds, mattresses, and trapeze systems to the Salisbury VAMC. The beds are to be brand name or equal to Joernes Ultracare XT Healthcare beds. A list of salient requirements follows. The equipment will be located in Salisbury, NC. This is not a request for bids, quotes, or proposals. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. The responses to this announcement will assist in determining the socio-economic set aside if feasible. The Veterans Administration is required by Public Law 104-9 to give first priority to SDVOSB and VOSB concerns if there should be sufficient firms available to compete under a set aside. If insufficient veteran owned and small business response is received to establish the basis for setting this action aside for other than large business participation then the action will be advertised as full and open competition, in which case, all interested parties responding shall be eligible to bid. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. Vendors are requested to respond to the salient requirements below. Requirements: 1.The beds and mattresses are manufactured by the same company, to ensure the proper fit for the mattress in the frame to prevent patient injuries. 2.The beds can serve as a low bed (7" from floor), trendelenburg/reverse trendelenburg chair, or a regular bed (minimum height 30" from surface platform to floor). The underbed clearance when in the higher position must be 23.75". The bed must be able to roll. 3.The bed does not resemble hospital beds, lending a home-like aesthetic to the care center. 4.The mattress can be adjusted by increasing and decreasing air volumes to improve patient comfort. 5.The bed must measure 42" across and have at least a 500lb weight capacity. 6.A bed alarm must be incorporated into the design. 7.The headboard and footboard must have a finished quarter oak veneer. Interested parties should submit with their response the following information no later than noon (EST) on August 15, 2011 and include POC information, business size, and business SBA classification(s).
