- GENERAL INFORMATION Document Type: Notice of Intent for Sole Source The Southern Regional Contracting Office-West, Brooke Army Medical Center intends to award a sole source contract to Haemonetics Inc. for the purchase of ACP Glycerol and Deglycerol Kits. ACP glycerol kit serves to extend the life of Red Blood Cells up to ten years, increasing inventory and blood supply. Additionally, frozen blood products can be used in the event of mass trauma and for patient treatment in the event of rare and unusual antibody presences. These kits provides the Roberts Blood Center with the ability to prepare Packed Frozen Red Blood Cells that helps support a global mission Army mission of collecting, storing, and distributing blood products to health care facilities, depots, and transfusion service facilities. These kits are integrated parts of a government-owned system. Salients Characteristics Glycerolization Disposable Set Must be FDA approved for use with the Haemonetics ACP-215 Must be FDA approved for Glycerolizing blood cells in preparation for frozen storage. Must provide sterile connection with the RBC product Must provide a bacterial filter in the solution line Must ensure intergrity of closed disposable set Must be compatable with Hypertonic solution line. Must provide vented spike that connects to glycerol bottle Must be able to connect tubing to RBC bag while maintainig sterility Must include 1 x 0.2 micron hydrophobic filter and 1 x 0.2 micron bacterial filter in solution line Salients Characteristics Deglycerolization Disposable Set Must be FDA approved for washing Fresh RBC Products with Haemonetics ACP215 Must be FDA approved for to deglycerolizing and washing RBCs after thawing on the Haemonetics ACP 215. Must be FDA approved to wash units with a red cell mass at or greater than 180 mLs. Must be FDA approved to wash cells using utilizes a larger blow-molded bowl Must provide sterile connection with the RBC product Must provide a bacterial filter in the solution line Must ensure intergrity of closed disposable set Must be compatable with Hypertonic solution line. Must provide vented spike that connects to glycerol bottle Must be able to connect tubing to RBC bag while maintainig sterility Salients Characteristics AS-3 Solution All reagents must equal chemical composition of items as indicated by name and part number above for and meet FDA requirements.
