- Description
- Technical Components for VS2220860 The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Blackrock Microsystems, Salt Lake City, UT, 84108, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for a Cerebus 32-channel data acquisition system: 1)- (1 each)-PN 4553-Cerebus 32-channel data acquisition system to include, rack-mountable neural signal processor with front-end amplifies, cables, data acquisition software, and 128-channel neural signal simulator; 2)-(1 each)- PN 6789-Cerebus system host computer (preconfigured and tested); 3)-(2 each)-PN 6793-21" LCD monitor; 4)-(2 each) PN 5853-32 -ch headstage, DC-coupled, unity-gain voltage follower with female dual-row, 36-pin, 0.025" pitch Omnetics connector on input3; 5)-(2 each)-PN 5854-32 -ch headstage cable, 3 ft long, flexible rodent-style cable with Kevlar wrap for biting protection3; 6)-(1 EACH)- Dragonfly SL-36 C non-motorized commutator (fully shielded and grounded); 7)-(1 each)-NeuroMotive Digital Video Recording and Playback System5; 8)-(1 each)-NeuroMotive Tracking Option; 9)- (1 each)-PN 5958-Cerebus system onsite installation and training (domestic). Blackrock Microsystems, is the manufacturer and sole distributor the Cerebus data acquisition system. Other systems can only filter incoming neural signals at frequencies defined by the specifications of the pre-amplifier, the Blackrock system allows flexible user-defines digital filters. Therefore, the Blackrock system is unique in that each of the 32 channels can be filtered at any frequencies that we desire. By contrast, other systems will permit strictly two filter sets for the entire population of 32 channels. Secondly, other systems allows only one channel to be used for noise cancellation applied to the remaining 31 channels, the Blackrock system allows any channel(s) to be used for noise cancellation on any other channels, and multiple channels can be used for noise cancellation. The result is greater signal-to-noise ratio for the entire population of recording wires with the Blackrock system. Thirdly, while other systems use standard wire cables for data transfer from the pre-amplifier to the amplifier, which is subject to contamination by electromagnetic noise, the Blackrock system use a fiber-optic data link for reduced electromagnetic noise interference. Based on the specifications and requirements needed in the lab, the system from Blackrock,(the manufacturer and sole distributor of the Cerebus data acquisition system), this is the only system to meet the research needs in the lab. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Blackrock Microsystems. The NAICS Code/Size is 334510. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $100,000. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Valarie K. Sims via email sims3@niehs.nih.gov.*****
