- Description
- The approach being developed to evaluate capsizing probability is equally applicable to the prediction of an extreme motion event that although not leading to capsizing, would sufficiently damage the ship or disrupt the crew so as to render the ship unfit to continue its mission. In addition to developing the split-time approach for evaluation of dynamic stability, efforts in the last few years have extended and verified the LAMP models of lateral plane viscous and lifting forces so that a tuned model can predict ship maneuvering performance in calm water and in waves.
