THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY AND NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS OR QUOTES. NO PRICING SUBMITTED WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR USE WHEN/IF A SOLICATION SHALL COME OUT OF THIS NOTICE. For this procurement, The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is looking for vendors who can provide whole genome sequencing services. The Veterans Health Administration Office of Research and Development will provide human DNA samples collected from VA projects, vendor will receive and store DNA samples, track and manage samples to ensure security, test DNA for good quality and to identity match sample before and after sequencing, provide sequencing at a clinically acceptable level, and assemble the raw data which includes identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms, Identification of Copy Number variants, ID of Structural variants, ID of insertions and deletions, annotation of known genes and non-coding RNAs, and DNA reads and quality scores. Samples will then be sent back to the VA in a format for use for other research purposes. Various reports shall be required and all Data collection shall be property of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The vendor shall have the capability to conduct high-throughput genome sequencing of approximately 5750 human DNA samples within the 12 month period of performance with the potential to begin prior to October 1, 2011. The laboratory shall be Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) certified and VA Pathology and meet laboratory Medicine requirements (PLM&S). Therefore, the place of performance will be at the contractor's facility. The vendor must have background in working with consented samples and maintaining study sample de-identification. The intention of this notice is to seek sources that could potentially provide these services. Firms with interest and capability to respond to this requirement should develop short narrative capability statements and past performance history of similar requirements including relevant experience and other information indicating and evidencing capability to successfully meet the aforementioned requirements.
