Description
AG-7B31-N-11-0001 Focal Plane Array Detector and Accessories for FIR/NIR-Microscope System The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Southern Regional Research Center (SRRC) intends to issue and award to the Fluidigm Corporation, San Francisco, CA on a sole source basis. Award will be made pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)-Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Description of Supplies and/or Services: General: The SRRC performs research and investigations on cotton fiber and products, commodity products, Formosan subterranean termites, and food and feed safety - both fundamental and applied research. One of our research programs include investigations of molecular markers in plants and use them in crop breeding. One of these molecular markers is single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs). In order to analyze SNP markers in high through-put fashion to facilitate marker-assisted breeding, we need to have a system that can conduct SNP analysis at relatively low cost. The Fluidigm EP1 system is one such an example. Instrument Specifications: The system must be able to conduct analysis of genotyping, copy number variation, and absolute quantification of nucleic-acid Sequences. The system must be able to conduct high through-put SNP analysis (>5,000 data-points per run) at relatively low cost (<$0.1per data point). The system must be able to have genotyping call accuracy 99.00% or greater. The system must be flexible that a customer can change the configuration of samples if needed. The vendor must be able to provide any post-sale service that supports the system. Software Specifications: The EP1 system provided by Fluidigm comes with its own operating software(s). The software(s) should automatically analyze the resulting data from the experimental reactions run in the System. The data should be able to be exported to any conventional programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, etc. Service/Support Specifications: The vendor will provide in-depth technical support for the operation, software, maintenance, and method development programs/components of the whole system. Services, parts, and accessories purchased must be warranted for at least 90 days. The Fuidigm Corporation, Shall deliver the above mentioned items t the USDA, ARS, SRRC, New Orleans, Louisiana. Responses are to be received within 20 days (12:01 p.m. CST, September 12, 2011) of this notice. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516. This procurement will be processed pursuant to FAR part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. No solicitation will be issued. Questions can be e-mailed to ida.lirette@ars.usda.gov.
