- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to enter into sole source negotiations with FN Herstal, S.A. for a firm-fixed price contract for the procurement of: (a) approximately fourty (40) GAU-21 weapon systems, or other such quantities as may be authorized and appropriated by Congress, to include related supplies and services necessary for their manufacture and fleet deployment; (b) production of Medium Pintle Heads (MPH) for the UH-1Y Helicopter; (c) Operator and Armorer tool kits; (d) technical manuals for the operation, maintenance and repairs of the weapon system; and (e) engineering and logistics technical support services for the operation, maintenance, training and repair of the weapon system; (f) Weapons and system components; and (g) GAU-21 and MPH logbooks. Unless otherwise stated herein, no formal request for proposal or additional written information is currently available. Request for same will be disregarded. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This synopsis is published for information purposes only. (THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS). FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the GAU-21 machine gun, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce the requirements described herein, in order to satisfy the government's requirement. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the supplies anticipated needed herein is 332995.
