- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions from potential offerors and the list of attendees at the site visit held on 16 Aug 2011as follows: I - Q&A Q1. Page 5 paragraph C.3.2.1.1 States that the wall panels will have perforated interior face sheets. Our system does not utilize perforated panels for RF and acoustic integrity. Absorption will be achieved through the use of acoustic wall panels that are installed on the interior walls with a hook and loop attachment system. Please confirm your approval. A1. The last line of C.3.2.1.1 is "or suitable alternative as determined by ARL" Acoustic wall panels attached to the inside are acceptable. We require Class "A" fire-rated panels. Q2. Page 5 paragraph C.3.2.1.2, again we will provide ample absorption with the cloth covered acoustic panels. Please confirm your approval. A2. The cloth covered acoustic panels are acceptable. Q3. Page 5 paragraph C.3.2.1.3 as above, all panels will be hard/hard for both RF and acoustic integrity. There is a drop ceiling throughout the space that provides additional absorption. Please confirm your approval. A3. Again the provision is stated "suitable alternative as determined by ARL". The drop ceiling is acceptable as long as the minimal interior height of nine (9) feet is maintained below the finished ceiling. Q4. Page 5 paragraph C.3.2.1.4 graph shows the panel STC to be 55 when everywhere else it is noted as STC-50. Please confirm that STC-50 is correct. A4. STC-50 is correct. Q5. Page 5 C.3.2.3.1 notes a door clear opening of 36" wide and 73-1/2" high. Our door will provide for the required clear opening widths, but with a clear opening height of 84". Please confirm your approval of an 84" high clear opening for all doors. A5. Seventy-three and a half inches was a minimum vertical clearance. Q6. Page 6, C.3.2.3.2 Doors will have one set of acoustic seals and one set of RF seals. Please confirm approval, as long as we meet the required acoustic and RF requirements. A6. The seal design of one set of acoustic seals and one set of RF seals is acceptable as long as the performance requirements are met. Q7. Page 7 C.3.2.3.4 does not allow for a threshold. To insure the RF integrity our doors utilize a " thick steel threshold. Please approve. A7. I believe this refers to C.3.2.3.3. A threshold as small as " would be acceptable, it would allow wheeled cart access. Q8. Page 9 C.3.3.6.1 Does APG fore and life safety code require horns and strobes to be located within each of the four spaces? A8. YES; see Drawing FA-101 which shows ceiling-mounted combination strobes/speakers (candela rating as indicated)-either 15 or 30. The Corps of Engineers rep and the speaker/strobes indicated on FA-101 have been deleted from the construction contract. The acoustical chamber contractor is responsible for providing new equipment as specified on FA-101 and connecting them to the building fire alarm system. Also, any new HVAC systems shall provide relays to shut down the air handlers under fire alarm control. Q9. Room location is close to the existing man door opening that leads to the stair exit. There is a waste drain pipe located in that area that will create a need for a drop in ceiling height at that location running the entire length of the wall, unless it is moved. To prevent the drop in ceiling height can the pipe be shifted to be as close to the existing wall as possible? Will the moving of the pipe be completed before we start work or do we include that in our proposal? A9. This is undetermined at this point so please add the cost of relocating the sanitary waste pipe to the proposal. It should be an option. It is preferred that the pipe be moved instead of a loss in ceiling height. Q10. It is understood that that there will be air supply ducts running throughout the existing space when we will start our work. All of the duct work running through our area will need to be terminated and will cause an imbalance to the building system in that area. Please confirm that others will be responsible for the re-balancing of any HVAC outside our space and the systems that we will provide. A10. See 3.1.2.3 Demolition/Repair: The successful bidder shall be responsible for removing existing suspended ceiling and all devices/fixtures associated with the ceiling; removing supply diffusers, return grills, and associated ductwork in the area in which the research chambers are to be installed. The impacted HVAC zones shall be re-balanced. II - LIST OF SITE VISIT ATTENDEES: 1.Mr. Richard von Lange, TechStar Industries (TSI) 2.Mr. Henry Osgood, TSI 3.Mr. John Finnegan, TSI
