Description

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) intends tonegotiate a sole source contract modification to extend the period ofperformance of the existing contract N00039-09-C-0018 with Intelsat GeneralCorporation, 6550 Rock Spring Drive, Suite 450, Bethesda, MD 20817, for UltraHigh Frequency (UHF) Satellite Communications (SATCOM). Contract No.N00039-09-C-0018 was awarded on 27 January 2009 to Intelsat General on asole source basis to augment DoD UHF narrowband SATCOM via multiple 25kHzchannels and a 5kHz channel on the Skynet and the LEASAT 5 satellites.These channels provide the DoD with region specific UHF SATCOM to all Navalships, command and control networks and tactical on the ground mobilewarfighters. The proposed contract action will extend period of performance ofthe contract until 30 Jun 2012, by adding five (5) additional channel months onSkynet 5C to the four (4) channel months still remaining on the contract. Thenine channels will be leased 3 at a time over a period of three months from 01April 2012 to 30 June 2012. The value of this contract action is $1.3M. The Government is not soliciting proposals in response to this synopsis.However, since it is the policy of the Government to foster competition, anyprospective offeror may provide information, which the Government will considerin its continued review of the sole-source nature of the requirement. Thesolicitation will be issued without further notice.
