- Description
- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Gatan Inc., Warrendale, PA 94588, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for one (1) each of the following: 1)- (1 each)- 832.10W-SC1000W camera, 35mm port, fiber optical coupled CCD camera for 120 ke V operation up to 11 million pixels, 5 and 30MHz dual clock speed, high-resolution phosphor scintillator; 2)- (1 each)- 832.T Installation and basic operator training. This camera will be installed on a transmission electron microscope and will be used to take photomicrographs of the ultrastructural features of cells in various biological tissues. Gatan, Inc.is the manufacturer and sole distributor of this instrument, thereby making them the only available source for this requirement. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written apabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, the order will be issued to Gatan, Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using FAR 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items.
