Description

This modification is to clarify the statement of work, provide available drawings for this requirement, and to extend the due date for proposals to 9/20/2011. The contractor shall provide all equipment, materials, and competent labor necessary to install 864' of 3000 series Inpro woodgrain handrails (color - Boston Cherry), 700 series wall guard, returns mounting hardware, corner guards, in the areas identified on the attached drawings. The Contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, materials and equipment necessary to replace existing handrails, corner guards and wall guards with new handrails, corner guards, and wall guards in Building 1 1st Lad area located on the campus of the VA Medical Facility at Fayetteville. Performance of work will meet all State, Federal & VA regulations and specifications as indicated in the VA national specifications. Specific duties will include but are not limited to the following: "Sign in and pick up work badges from the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) in the Facilities Management Section of Building 5 prior to commencing any work. "Remove all existing handrails, corner guards, and wall guard covers. "Remove handrail and wall guard brackets (Corner guard aluminum retainers do not need be removed; Only the vinyl covers will need to be replaced). "This must be in a phase approach so that handrails are only removed from one side of the wall or the other at a time (not both). "Patch and paint entire wall two toned before installing new handrails. (They must use the Medical Center approved paint) "Purchase and install all new handrails, corner guards, and wall guards with covers and end caps (to replace the existing.) "Insure each section of rail is properly secured to each wall surface. "Use ¼-20 toggle bolts 6"-7"in all terracotta tile wall surfaces found during installation. "Set all plaster wall anchors a minimum of 3"-4"deep inside wall surfaces. "Use expansion shield anchors for brick, concrete or masonry walls. "Remove and dispose of all debris through a licensed waste hauler. "Vendor will need to provide adequate interior storage and workspace to perform cutting and fabricating of material. "Clean work area daily before signing out. "Turn in all work badges to the COTR at the end of the work period. Hours of Operation: All work will be performed between the hours of 8am-5pm on regular weekdays. Some work shall be performed at different hours and must be approved by COTR. Attached is a PDF of the corridor and an autocad drawing. (The hatched area is the area that will be painted and handrails, wall guards and corner guards replaced.)
