- The purpose of this amendment is to attach questions and answers received from the pre-bid meeting scheduled on August 25, 2011. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged. Notes from Piedras Paint Pre Bid tour Aug 25, 2011, 2 pm to 4 pmMeeting led by Jim Boucher and Tom Meagher, BLM Will BLM consider an alternate paint company?Masonry paint - Please bid Keim we may consider an alternate after award. Keim Representative is Tom.Tipps@keim.com, 704-588-4811 Metal and Wood - Please use a major manufacturer such as tnemec, etc.,. Weatherproofing cover - all exterior belt course, windows, porticle roof to get a complete custom fabricated metal galvanized 20 ga. min, well fitted cover, covering all cast iron, fastened appropriately for high wind. Galv metal to be primed and painted black per major manufacturers recommendation. A preferable alternate would be a black colored kynar coated metal roof product. Use Sika 1A moisture curing caulk to seal metal cover to structure, sufficient to prevent rain entering. Cast iron covered by sheet metal should be prepped, primed and painted to reduce rusting, and all exposed metal to be prepped, primed and painted. Window weatherproofing to include grout patching, foam backer rod placement, weather proof caulking such as Sika 1-A, sufficient to prevent rain entering the structure. Entrance steps - remove lead paint, prep and paint step structure except for tread. Do not include handrails (to be replaced by BLM). Exterior paint removal - existing paint may contain asbestos as well as lead - treat according to applicable regulations. The FOG SIGNAL building, with it recently removed paint, will be the standard for exterior paint removal - down to lime layer. Lighthouse tower approx. dimen: 60 ` tall, top outside diam - 20 ft, inside diam 17ft bottom outside diam 34ft, inside diam 24ft Interior paint - spiral stairs and landings no removal, no paint. Other areas - remove existing lead paint and re-paint all masonry, wood, metal, per Keim / major maufacturer. Interior cabinets and doors to be done by BLM. Interior masonry floor; remove lead paint, leave brick unpainted. Time to complete - Weather can be warmer and drier in fall - start approx.
