- The Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC) Center - Fort Knox is conducting market research for the following requirement: This is a non-personal services contract to provide all supplies and services for the care and disposition of human remains of all active duty military personnel within the Continental United States (CONUS). The Government will not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the services herein. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who, in turn, is responsible to the Government. The purpose of this announcement is to gain knowledge of interest, capabilities, and qualifications of contractors who can support this requirement as a prime contractor. Services would include, but are not limited to: - Contractor shall provide all supplies and services necessary for the care and disposition of remains of active duty military personnel within the CONUS. Supplies and services include: removal from place of death or where remains are located; appropriate preparations (sanitation, restoration, and preservation) of human remains, basic reconstructive restoration, dressing, casketing, cosmetology, and world-wide shipment of remains. Contractor shall maintain strict compliance with specifications and provisions outlined in Army Regulation (AR) 638-2, Care and Disposition of Remains and Disposition of Personal Effects and Department of the Army Pamphlet (DA Pam) 638-2, Procedures for the Care and Disposition of Remains and Disposition of Personal Effects. Contractor will be required to certify all supplies and services meet specifications in Block 13 of Department of Defense (DD) Form 2063 (Record of Preparation and Disposition of Remains). This announcement is not a request for proposal. It is a market research tool being used to determine procurement strategy. Appropriate procurement strategy will be determined after consideration of industry response to this sources sought announcement. The government is not obligated to, and will not, pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this announcement. Responses to this announcement should be e-mailed to katie.e.paben@us.army.mil no later than 2:00pm, 21 September 2011, and should include the following: 1. A statement of interest in this requirement. 2. A synopsis of the contractor's capabilities, past performance and experience information, including contacts, for contracts similar to the services listed above. 3. Company size: Small or large, HUBZone, 8(a), SDB, Woman-owned, Service disabled veteran-owned. 4. Contact information, to include name, e-mail address, phone number, and fax number. 5. Teaming Arrangements: Anticipated teaming arrangements (delineate between work accomplished by prime and work accomplished by teaming partners)
