- Description
- PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: PEO STRI Project Manager for Combine Arms Tactical Trainer (PM CATT), Product Manager Special Operations Forces Training Systems (PM STS), Assistant Product SOF Training Systems - Aviation (APM STS - Aviation) is interested in the integration and testing of the latest Special Operations Aviation Common Avionics Architecture System (SOA CAAS) version 6.0 into the current 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) (SOAR(A)) Training Devices MH-47G (DVC 01-252) and MH-60M (DVC 01-253) Combat Mission Simulators (CMS). With respect to helicopter training systems, the number one priority for the 160th SOAR(A), the requiring activity for this effort, is concurrency of the MH-60M (DVC 01-253) and MH-47G (DVC 01-252) CMS with the flight line aircraft. The aircraft will receive the "Black Label" Air Worthiness Release (AWR) version 6.0 of SOA CAAS by MAR 2012. The work to be performed is to upgrade the existing US Army 160th SOAR(A) MH-60M (DVC 01-253) and MH-47G (DVC 01-252) CMS with the latest Special Operations Aviation Common Avionics Architecture System (SOA CAAS) version 6.0. This will involve the integration and test of the SOA CAAS version 6.0 into the training system software to include, but not be limited to, the following: SOA CAAS 6.0 integration into the existing avionics/training software/architecture and current simulated avionics components. This effort does not address the modification of the avionics components from simulated to stimulated which is scheduled for a future contracting vehicle. (Threshold Requirement) IOS upgrade with respect to the added capabilities which accompany the SOA CAAS 6.0 upgrade. (Threshold Requirement) Automatic Flight Control Systems (AFCS) (both digital and analog AFCS) update for the MH-47G (DVC 01-252) CMS with respect to the added capabilities which accompany the SOA CAAS 6.0 upgrade. (Threshold Requirement) Circuit Breaker update with respect to the added capabilities which accompany the SOA CAAS 6.0 upgrade. (Threshold Requirement) Full SOA CAAS 6.0 interface and stand-alone radio capabilities with the current ARC-231 Radio model, as well as, integration with the Remote Control Units. (Threshold Requirement) Integrate the Silent Knight Radar hooks that currently reside in the CAAS 6.0 Operational Flight Program (OFP) software. (Threshold Requirement) Recapitalize all of the computers which drive and are associated with the Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) and Control Display Units (CDUs) (CPPMD2) on the MH-60M (DVC 01-253) and MH-47G (DVC 01-252) CMS in order to support the SOA CAAS 6.0 upgrade. (Threshold Requirement) Update the MH-60M and MH-47G Desk Top Trainers to this latest version (SOA CAAS 6.0) of CAAS. (Threshold Requirement) Ensure that existing training capabilities (Record and Playback, Debrief, Interoperability, etc.) is not adversely affected by the CAAS 6.0 upgrade. (Threshold Requirement) ACQUISITION APPROACH: The CAAS 6.0 update Request For Information (RFI) is a fact finding request to gather a more informed perspective on the current and potential future capabilities of industry as it applies to this pending requirement. Submission of the information requested will not exclude contractors from participating in future contract actions pertaining to the CAAS 6.0 updates. However, the Government envisions that future release of a Request For Proposal (RFP) relating to this effort may impose limitations and restrictions on the awardee to act as the developmental contractor for this system. Organizational Conflicts of Interest will be further addressed during the RFP phase. All submissions to this RFI will be treated as proprietary information and should be marked accordingly. This information will not be made available to the public. As such, this RFI does not constitute an opportunity for potential offerors to provide a proposal for this effort. Furthermore, the RFI may not result in a Request for Proposal. The effort is subject to the availability of funding.
