Description
Response Day is: 19 September 2011. Responce Time is: 10:00am US Central. Purchase and installation of the No Foam System for the Fire Department Aircraft Fire Fighting (ARFF) Vehicles under a new contract. Items to purchased 2 No Foam skid mounted System, 2 Trailer including mounting, suggested options for trailers, and Dye concentrate 1 year supply. The NoFoam kit has been developed and demonstrated that replaces AFFF with a benign, biodegradable dye/water mixture that eliminates the need to release AFFF for operational maintenance and routine checks. The use of the kit produces a waste stream that can be assimilated by natural systems or can be treated easily at treatment plants, thus producing a 100 percent reduction in the problematic AFFF wastewater stream. (Typically, the amount of AFFF wastewater generated ranges from 500 to 900 gallons per vehicle per test). 2 No Foam skid mounted System, 2 Trailer including mounting, suggested options for trailers, and Dye concentrate 1 year supply. Training sessions will be required at Ramstein Air Base and Cheivres Air Base after a delivery of No Foam Systems. No Foam Systems for Fire Department Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles must meet the following salient characteristic criteria below in order to be technically acceptable: 1. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle is modified with a source selection valve that has an AFFF (online) and water (test) setting. 2. A modified ARFF vehicle is brought to a test site or a trailer-mounted system is brought to the vehicle. 3. The foam delivery system is tested with a flow meter monitoring performance. 4. The water from the test is discharged directly into a public sewer system. 5. Unhook two hose fittings, turn one valve and the truck is back on line. 6. The system is gravity fed using the ARFF vehicle distribution system to move the water. The vehicles use an Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) for fire suppression. The new No Foam Systems are needed to replace AFFF.
