- Description
- The purpose of this notice is to obtain industry input to inform the development of the Naval Air Systems Command's (NAVAIR) acquisition strategy for the Next Generation Jammer (NGJ). NGJ is an electronic attack system that will provide significantly improved Airborne Electronic Attack capabilities against advanced threats through enhanced agility and precision within jamming assignments, increased interoperability and expanded broadband capability for greater threat coverage against a wide variety of radio frequency emitters. Initially, the NGJ system will be integrated on the EA-18G tactical aircraft to replace aging ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System pods. NGJ Technology Maturation (TM) contracts are currently being performed. The Government is evaluating an acquisition strategy providing for award of an NGJ Technology Development (TD) contract with an option for Engineering and Manufacturing Development. In this regard, the Government requires an understanding of EA-18G contractor (The Boeing Company) efforts that would be required by NGJ competitors during development of their NGJ TD/EMD proposals. The Government intends to use this information to support contracting strategy decision-making with respect to NGJ integration on the EA-18G platform. Respondents are requested to forecast the required Boeing level of effort in terms of purpose, scope, tasking and quantity. These efforts could include documentation requirements and engineering support, as well as other elements. These efforts shall be scoped at the minimum possible level required to support TD/EMD proposal preparation. Provide responses to this RFI, by 26 September 2011, to Mary Dodds at mary.dodds@navy.mil.
