- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The contractor shall provide one (1) Roland MDX 540 SA CNC Plastic Modeling Machining System with accompanying Roland LPX-600 3D Laser Scanner and accessories, "or equal", to include on site installation, set-up, and user training. See accompanying salient characteristics to wit: "Requirements are for a system that will scan objects in three dimensions with a high level of accuracy once located in the fixed position without the need of land-marking the object and run the risk of altering or damaging it. The system shall be able to capture, in precise detail, various individual and smaller crew-served systems, ordnance, and other items within the Army's inventory. The detail of the files shall allow for near-exact duplication of an object's shape, size, and functionality - including any moving parts and unique connections. This ensures true, fully-functional and realistic devices simulated for training purposes. The scanner must enable the software to record the digitized image as a CAD-orientated file that will support the ability to modify all aspects of the object. The mill shall be able to accept, produce and digitally design, create and reproduce items using wood, polymers, and non-ferrous metals consistently as this ensures creating uniform, functional, non-lethal devices Armywide or unique items for local agencies. All files created by the scanner must be able to be digitally archived for future retrieval and modifications, if needed. This will provide consistent plugs to create molds or have items ready for instant production should the situation call for it. The system must also have the ability to support various file formats created by other organizations for part prototyping and reproduction by the mill." Request for delivery date for parts is: 04 November 2011 Delivery Instructions: Lawrence C. Roger or Steven Delcore Bldg. 3775N Maintenance Road Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898 Delivery Date NLT: 15 Sep 2011 For questions concerning this requirement contact: MAJ JONATHAN W.
