Description
SOURCES SOUGHT: THIS NOTICE IS MARKET RESEARCH TO SUPPORT INCLUSION OF SOLE SOURCE (BRAND NAME) SPECIFICATIONS IN FY12 VARIOUS MILCON PROJECTS AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. The U.S. Army Engineer District, Alaska intends to specify the below listed item as parts of larger construction contracts to be executed on various military installations throughout Alaska. Item: Lockable Storz Cap. To prevent foreign material from clogging the standpipe water supply and to protect the connection from unauthorized use, the Fire and Emergency Services on Alaska military installations using a wet standpipe fire suppression system require all standpipe hose valve connections to have a locking Storz cap that is keyed to a single master keywrench. To maximize consistency, compatibility, economy, and sustainability, Alaska military installations using wet standpipe fire suppressions systems currently use the SecureCap® manufactured by the Knox Company. In the event of an emergency, a single keywrench will access any standpipe connection. Lockable Storz caps must be accessible by a keywrench that is wholly compatible with existing Knox SecureCap® Storz caps. Interested suppliers/manufacturers must certify that any item offered in response to this notice is Buy American Act Compliant. Responses must include the following information: (1) Fully detailed specification sheets. (2) Identification of the manufacturer's name, address, and country of manufacture. (3) Narrative addressing how alternate product to the one described herein is a fully comparable substitute. Please send responses to U. S. Army Engineer District, Alaska, ATTN: CEPOA-CT (Maloy), P. O. Box 6898, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK 99506-0898 or email Kevin.j.maloy@usace.army.mil. Point of Contact: Kevin Maloy, 907-753-5594
