- Description
- The Government has a requirement to continue the overall rehabilitation plan for the foundation of Center Hill Dam near Lancaster, Tennessee. The work includes constructing a concrete seepage barrier wall at the adjacent main dam embankment. The barrier wall will extend through the existing earthen embankment into the underlying limestone bedrock. The barrier wall will have a minimum 2-foot thickness and extend from elevation 696 to approximately elevation 405 msl. The barrier will be installed through the existing earthen embankment and underlying limestone foundation. Portions of the limestone foundation exhibits unconfined compressive strengths up to 40,000 psi, with an average of 16,000 psi; therefore, the Government preferred a combined wall constructed of hydromill and circular pile elements. To protect the earthen embankment during construction, a concrete encasement wall was also recommended.
