- Description
- Pipeline dredging of approximately 6,600,000 cubic yards associated with new channel extension with subsequent construction of new open bay beneficial use site. This job involves dredging previously undisturbed bay bottom to a depth of -41 ft. to extend the La Quinta Channel by a distance of 1.4 miles. Subsequent placement of the dredged clays required in adjacent open bay to create a 2 mile long solid clay levee which will be rock-armored to +9 ft. MLT. Additional clay materials will be placed along a northern and eastern alignment forming a 260 acre beneficial use (BU) site. Remaining material to be dredged will then be placed in the BU site to provide a bed for future sea grass development. Dredge material not used in the construction and filling of the BU site will be placed in upland placement areas 13 and 14.
