Description
You may have heard of a "Miracle on 34th Street" and "White Christmas" but if you haven't heard how the Air Forces' "Tops In Blue Holiday Tour" touches the hearts of US troops downrange, please follow along. The Tops In Blue team itself is comprised of active duty men and women who perform around the world fulfilling a mission to increase troop morale, benefit recruiting efforts and promote community relationships. Each holiday season, the team heads to Southwest Asia to lift the spirits of over 3,500 Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines serving in the combat zone. In just ten days, Tops In Blue will perform nine shows in Afghanistan, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan. It's hard to find the holiday spirit in a war zone but with familiar carols and a VIP all dressed in red, the Tops In Blue Holiday Tour performance turns folks from 18 to 60 into believers. The audience drags in toting guns and dressed in body armor but a lively rendition of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" has them humming along and tapping their feet. But the real magic comes when Tops In Blue sings, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and the jolly old elf himself appears with a bag full of surprises for these defenders of freedom. To continue the tradition, we're reaching out to a sponsor or sponsors to provide items for "Santa's sack" to bring some magic to our troops this holiday season. Sponsors will be announced at each performance and the gift provided will undoubtedly make an impression on these men and women that just might last a lifetime. Details are as follows: Acceptable items will not be perishable or larger than a bread box. 60 - 90 items are sought per performance. All items must arrive at the following address by 15 Nov: 3515 S. General McMullen, Bldg 171, San Antonio, TX 78226. This is a solicitation for sponsors by a nonappropriated fund instrumentality of the United States Government. It does not oblige appropriated funds of the government. Interested companies should contact HQ Air Force Services Agency Marketing Department, Rita Shrewsbury at 210-395-7241 or rita.shrewsbury@us.af.mil.
