- BACKGROUND The National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL's) Fuel Cell and Hydrogen and Vehicle Technology Programs undertake a wide range of research and analysis activities to support the implementation of energy efficiency technologies and alternative fuels. To present the findings of this research and development (R&D) and analysis, the Programs develop a variety of publications, reports, on-line resources, training materials, and presentations. OBJECTIVE NREL seeks technical writing and analysis support for program-specific reports and activities on an as-needed basis. The support provided is to be based on excellent technical writing and analysis skills, broad knowledge of fuels and vehicles technologies, and fuel cells. The Subcontractor shall help develop outreach and analysis reports and assist with other deployment activities. Materials may target government analysts, policy makers, consumers, and industry. POTENTIAL TASK AREAS The tasks to be accomplished shall be specified and defined in each of the individual work orders as determined by the NREL Technical Monitor (TM). The tasks may include: • Developing draft reports based on NREL analysis, research and analysis from other organizations, independent research, and other materials. • Developing user guides for models created by NREL for analyzing the development and deployment of alternative fuel infrastructure and/or fuel cells. • Assisting NREL in the development of models and other analysis tools that may be used to assess the production and delivery of alternative fuels. • Developing outreach materials designed to educate the media, policy makers, and the general public on issues related to energy efficiency, fuel cells and other alternative energy technologies. • Provide support on proposal efforts including charts, technical writing, formatting and editing of documents provided by TM or designated NREL staff. AREAS OF EXPERTISE • Strong technical understanding of renewable fuels and technologies. Provide resumes of key personnel. • Strong technical writing skills, editing and formatting for all standard Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Etc.). Please cite at least 3 published pieces or provide examples of 3 technical pieces on alternative energy. • Located in Denver metropolitan area to interact with NREL Technical Monitor as required. • Strong customer service skills; including communication skills with NREL Technical Monitor with minimal oversight. • Ability to produce high quality products with a quick turnaround. • Ability to meet writing requirements using the NREL writing style found at http://thesource.nrel.gov/communications/styleguide.html RESPONSE REQUIREMENTS The response to this sources sought document is limited to eight (8) pages of single spaced text of 12-point font, with minimum 1" margins. Brevity is encouraged. All responses shall directly address the areas of expertise described within this document. All responses shall be submitted in writing via e-mail to raymond.dow@nrel.gov. Electronic format of the response shall be in MSWord/Excel, or converted to.pdf. Electronic files in excess of 10MB will not be accepted. Responses to this notice must be received by the response date (October 24, 2011, 5:00 p.m. MDT). Responding to this request identifies your organization as an interested party only. Questions will not be accepted. Your submittal is not in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP).
