Description
Contractor shall provide all the labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary to perform the annual maintenance on the Arctic and Tropic Climatic Chambers large refrigeration and associated systems. The arctic and tropic main refrigeration systems of the Climatic Chambers are one of a kind systems designed specifically for The Army 1. List of Annual Maintenance Work Items: Notes: 1. The Contractor shall identify and verify proper gasket ordering information and have on hand prior to disassembly of any component for scheduled maintenance and subsequent gasket replacement. 2. Natick shall take the necessary action to dispose of used oils and desiccants in accordance with local regulations. Contractor will assist in identification of materials requiring disposal and provide MSDS sheets for all new materials. 3. Where work items apply to both arctic and tropic systems, the words "Arctic and Tropic" will be annotated after the main title of each work category. Where a line item applies to only one system, then that system is identified after the specific line item. 4. Contractor shall remove both heads or end bells when cleaning waterside of components including condensers and oil coolers. A. Main Condenser (Arctic and Tropic): 1. Contractor shall clean waterside of main condenser tubes. Past experience has shown the tubes to be the enhanced type tubes. The Contractor shall anticipate the appropriate brush type and have sufficient quantities on hand to ensure successful cleaning. 2. Contractor shall supply and install new head gaskets prior to reinstalling condenser heads following completion of cleaning. B.High Stage Compressor: Contractor shall perform maintenance as follows: Tropic: 1. Take oil sample and perform analysis of high stage compressor oil.Provide results in report form for the equipment history folder and for future trend analysis. 2.Contractor shall furnish and install 1 set of high stage compressor oil filter elements. Used filters to be disposed of in customer provided container. 3.Clean waterside of oil cooler. Contractor to furnish and install new oil cooler gaskets prior to reassembly of the oil cooler heads. Arctic: 1. Take oil sample and perform analysis of high stage compressor oil. Provide results in report form for the equipment history folder and for future trend analysis. 2.Contractor shall furnish and install 1 set of high stage compressor oil filter elements. Used filters to be disposed of in customer provided container. 3. Clean waterside of oil cooler. Contractor to furnish and install new oil cooler gaskets prior to reassembly of the oil cooler heads. C. Low Stage Compressor: Contractor shall perform maintenance as follows: Tropic: 1. Take oil sample and perform analysis of low stage compressor oil. Provide results in report form for the equipment history folder and for future trend analysis. Arctic: 2. Take oil sample and perform analysis of low stage compressor oil. Provide results in report form for the equipment history folder and for future trend analysis. 3.Clean waterside of low stage compressor oil cooler. Contractor to furnish and install new gaskets prior to reassembly of oil cooler heads. 4.Clean waterside of two (2) low stage compressor gear oil coolers. Contractor to furnish and install new gaskets prior to reassembly of gear oil cooler heads. D. Arctic and Tropic System Annual Pump Down: 1. Contractor shall perform a pump down of large arctic and tropic refrigeration systems. Scheduling of pump downs shall be as to minimize impact on the Natick Chamber Test Schedule. Consult Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) prior to scheduling. During pump down of each Arctic and Tropic System, Contractor shall perform the following work: a.Arctic System: a.1 Repair any known leaks or leaks found during leak check. a.2 Any work specified by the COR as part of the 7 day miscellaneous technician time. a.3 Install liquid sight glass in refrigerant transfer line (1" Copper) b. Tropic System: b.1 Repair any known leaks or leaks found during leak check. b.2 Any work specified by the COR as part of the 7 day miscellaneous technician time. b.3 Install liquid sight glass in refrigerant transfer line (1" Copper) E. Tropic Refrigerant Transfer Compressor Unit: 1. Contractor shall replace the Tropic System Refrigerant Transfer Unit (RTU) Compressor. Contractor shall be responsible for supplying all the tools, materials, equipment and labor necessary to complete all electrical and mechanical work involved with replacing this compressor. Contractor shall perform startup and commissioning of new compressor. F.. R-22 Refrigerant Leak Checks and System Replenishment of R-22 Charge: 1.Contractor shall provide 24 hours of R-22 refrigeration system leak checking per system. During that time minor leaks or leaks repairable with on hand supplies shall be performed. More serious leaks requiring purchase of parts/supplies or assistance from Natick personnel shall be coordinated with the COR. Repairs which cannot be completed within the 24-hour time limit per system shall be determined to be beyond the scope of this contract and will be resolved with assistance by the COR. If leak testing is completed prior to the end of the 24 hour time period per system, the Contractor can perform calibration of selected pressure/temperature gauges as requested by Natick Contracting Officer's Representative. G. Operational Checks of Arctic and Tropic Systems: 1. Contractor shall perform operational checks of the Arctic and Tropic Systems. Checks to include observations of operating equipment, review of operator logs, refresher operator training as required and minor troubleshooting/repair. Arctic and Tropic System checks to be for a period of 24 hours. H.Miscellaneous Customer Support Service: 1. The Contractor shall provide 7 days of customer support by a qualified technician knowledgeable on the Natick systems. Support shall be as requested by the Natick COR. 2. The Contractor shall provide 2 days of customer support by a Metasys Systems qualified technical person. Support shall be as requested by the Natick COR.
