Description
At this location, an 8 ft. diameter C.M.P. culvert and road section has washed out, leaving a 50-60 ft. section of road missing. This project is to quickly place a bridge across this drainage. Survey data is very limited. This project involves the following work: 1. Transport a 70 ft. modular bridge system, including railings, sills and backwalls, from the Forest Service Sorting Yard in Thorne Bay, AK to the site. 2. Coordinate a -best fit‖ installation for the bridge with Forest Service Engineering Staff, based on current conditions. 3. Excavate for spread footings on both sides of the drainage. Bedrock is expected to be encountered at a reasonable elevation for the footings. 4. Transport materials for the footings to the site. Sources for all material are located within 3 miles on the main road from the Klawock side of the site. Material has not yet been located on the Polk Inlet side. 5. Construct footings according to the Standard Drawings for Hamilton EZ Bridge systems. 6. Install modular bridge and backwalls according to the same drawings. 7. Backfill and restore approach roadway to original grades and surfacing. 8. Remove remains of 8ft. dia. x 50 or 60 ft. C.M.P. culvert that has lodged approximately 100 yards downstream. 9. Maintain road closure and road maintenance signage for duration of project.
