Description
AG-7B31-N-12-0001 Volumetric Hopper for Use with Cotton Fiber The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Southern Regional Research Center (SRRC) intends to issue and award to the Gary G. Wells & Associates, Greenville, SC on a sole source basis. Award will be made pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLIES AND SERVICES: General: The Southern Regional Research Center (SRRC) performs research and investigations on cotton fiber and products, nonwoven fabrics, commodity products, Formosan subterranean termites, and food and feed safety-both fundamental and applied research. Many CCU and externally supported research programs include investigations of fiber products and properties using nonwoven web forming and bonding equipment. In order to prepare the fiber for presentation to the web forming and nonwoven bonding equipment the fiber must first be opened and properly cleaned. The opening and cleaning process requires specialized equipment to complete this function without damaging or loosing excessive amounts of fiber. There are times when two or more fibers need to be used and the opening and cleaning lines will allow us to produce the fiber blends for presentation to the web forming and bonding equipment. With the opening and blending equipment there is no way to properly present the fiber to the nonwoven web forming and bonding equipment that already exists at SRRC- CCU. Equipment Specifications: • The purchase is for the exact used equipment described and guaranteed to be in good running order. • One Volumetric hopper Model 6012-V without extended apron with 1HP apron motor and 1 HP comber/doffer motor both 208 V. • One two roll Hollingsworth WRZ Opener/Cleaner 1250mm working width. • One Pneumatic Fiber Controls D106 Distributor, 36 inch working width and 1HP 208V motor. • One custom made control panel built to control the above equipment along with our existing Fiber Control 310 fine opener and the 10 HP filter house motor. Also to control the photo cell in the 310 hopper to start and stop the hopper feed. Service/Support Specifications: The Gary G. Wells & Associates shall deliver the above mentioned items to the USDA, ARS, SRRC, New Orleans, Louisiana. Responses are to be received within 15 days (12:00 pm CST, November 23, 2011) of this notice. The NAICS Code/Size is 425120. This procurement will be processed pursuant to FAR part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. No solicitation will be issued. Questions can be e-mailed ida.lirette@ars.usda.gov.
