Description
NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA solicits interest from companiesinterested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market thefollowing technology. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basisand may include specific fields of use. THE TECHNOLOGY: NASA Langley has developed a new class of polyimide composite electrical insulationmaterials for wires, cable, and bus pipe. These new insulation materials have been shownto withstand a 12-hour gas flame test while maintaining structural and electrical circuitintegrities. These extreme fire-resistant insulation systems show promise for use in highvoltage, high power systems. They can improve survivability and continuity of theelectrical power supply. Besides fire resistance, these materials also provide weight andspace savings because of their lightweight nature and exceptionally high performancecapability. NASA developed the wire insulation for exploration and space operations. Thetechnology also has applicability to other high voltage, high power systems for the Navy,high-rise building construction, and other industries. To express interest in this opportunity, please respond to Sean Sullivan at: NASA LangleyResearch Center, 17 West Taylor St., Mail Stop 218, Building 1212, Room 110 Hampton,Virginia, E-mail: Sean.D.Sullivan@NASA.gov, or phone: 757-864-5055.
