Description
The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North, Fort Detrick, MD, intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with Carefusion of San Diego, California, to provide a Pyxis Medstation System, to the USAF 48th MDSS, APO, AE (Lakenheath) This proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling Urgency, where delay of award would result in serious injury to the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact Jessica Ely, Contract Specialist, e-mail: Jessica.ely@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). The 48th MDSS Paharmacy is at a work stoppage. The Government has an obligation to provide adequate health services to its military populatoion by maintaining a fast retreival database for all medication transactions for quick data removal. This medstation is used daily and allows for the security and accountability of medications used in the pharmacy for patient support. Failure to immediately procure this equipment shall result in a loss of accountability for ans maintenance of medication safely and securly. Any delay shall result in the non-availability of care to beneficiaries; for the active duty population, a delay shall result in a compromise to the War Readiness posture.
