- This is a Sources Sought Synopsis to conduct market research for developing a procurement strategy for an upcoming construction contract at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, Idaho. Magnitude of construction project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Depending upon the responses in the small business categories (e.g. service-disabled veteran-owned small business, veteran-owned small business, certified 8(a), small business, women-owned small business, small disadvantaged business, Historically Underutilized Business Zone (Hubzone) small business) the solicitation will either be set aside in one of the small business categories or be issued as unrestricted open to both small and large business. The NAICS code for this procurement will be 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, and the small business standard is $33.5 million. This announcement is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for competitive bids/proposals. This announcement is not to be construed as a commitment by the Department of Veterans Affairs. No contract will be awarded from this announcement. All interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements are invited to submit responses, via e-mail, to the attention of Maria De L Santiago, Contract Specialist, by email: maria.santiago4@va.gov. No telephone calls will be accepted. Responses to the Sources Sought Synopsis should be received as soon as possible but no later than 2:00 PM (Pacific Time) on November 24, 2011. Project Summary: Construct Replace and Modernize Surgery/ICU at the Boise VA Medical Center. Project will include constructing a three story with mechanical penthouse, approximately 20,700 square feet building addition and a 5,000 square feet remodel. It will include admitting, ICU patient rooms, operating rooms, office space, classroom space, and supporting space for each service. The contractor shall provide construction period services to include all tools, labor, materials, and supervision including all structural, architectural, interior design, civil, landscape, fire protection, mechanical, electrical work, and other services necessary. Project Location: Department of Veterans Affairs, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, Idaho. Include the following information in your response and/or narrative: 1. Business size to include any official teaming arrangements as a partnership or joint venture. (e.g. certified 8(a), small business, women-owned small business, small disadvantaged business, Historically Underutilized Business Zone (Hubzone) small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, or veteran-owned small business). 3. If service-disabled veteran-owned small business or veteran-owned small businesses indicate if listed in the VIP database available at http://www.VetBiz.gov. 4. Details of similar projects and state whether you were the Prime or Subcontractor: Required, at a minimum, three (3) projects completed within the last ten (10) years that are relevant to the work that will be required under this project 5. Dates of construction work 6. Project reference (including owner with phone number and email address for each project listed) 6. Project cost, term and complexity of job 7. Information on your bonding capability - specially identify single and aggregate bonding capabilities. NOTE: Information provided will be held in strict confidence. Comments will be shared with the Government and project management team. If you are responding to this notice from outside the geographic location of the work, please provide a narrative detailing how you would perform the work at a fair and reasonable price to the Government. The government will not reimburse responders for any cost associated with providing information in response to this announcement.
