Description
The PEPFAR Program Coordinator, who will be based in Gaborone, Botswana, is recruited, hired, and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Regional HIV-AIDS Program (RHAP) for Southern Africa (which is based in Pretoria, South Africa) through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan). First-line supervision of this position is assigned to the Ambassador or DCM in Botswana. As such, the incumbent represents the Ambassador or DCM in sensitively and collaboratively managing the complex processes associated with planning for, implementing, and monitoring the results of the Emergency Plan across the participating USG implementing Agencies. The PEPFAR coordinator is the primary point of contact and coordinator of activities related to PEPFAR in-country, playing a critical role in the planning, implementing, and reporting of program performance of inter-Agency programs. Informed by the objectives of the Emergency Plan, and in collaboration with the Government of Botswana, cooperating USG agencies, USAID missions, the U.S. Embassy, regional institutions, and non-governmental partners, the Coordinator will undertake a range of responsibilities, including: •Ensuring that Emergency Plan programs in Botswana are coordinated and contribute to worldwide Emergency Plan objectives, policies and guidelines. •Ensuring that Emergency Plan activities are consistent with the HIV/AIDS intervention policies and programs of the Government of Botswana; and with the HIV/AIDS intervention programs other partners. •Coordinating and preparing key Emergency Plan planning and reporting documents. •Facilitating collection and dissemination of strategic information about the impact of the Emergency Plan, in accordance with Emergency Plan monitoring and evaluation (M&E) indicators.
