- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS FOR Fire Extinguisher Cartridges E-3 and KC-10 Aircraft Department of the Air Force, Air Force Materiel Command, OO-ALC/GHGKB PURPOSE/DESCRIPTION This is a Source Sought Synopsis announcement, market research for information only, to be used for preliminary planning purposes. This market research is being conducted to identify potential sources possessing the engineering and manufacturing knowledge for the Fire Extinguisher Cartridges used on the E-3 and KC-10 Aircraft. The E-3 Fire Extinguisher Cartridge consists of an aluminum cylinder containing two electrically initiated squibs and a slug projectile. The KC-10 Fire Extinguisher cartridge consists of a steel cased cylindrical squib with a hexagonal midsection. A threaded 2-pin electrical connector is at one end and an explosive charge on the other end. When electrical current is applied to the electrical connector, the cartridge fires and ignites propellant. Burning propellant produces gas pressure to activate fire extinguishing system or propels a slug (projectile) into frangible disk of fire extinguishing system. Rupture of disc releases fire extinguishing agent. No proposal is requested or accepted from synopsis. This is not a solicitation for proposal and no contract shall be awarded from this synopsis. The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command, OO-ALC/GHGKB, Hill AFB is conducting a market survey for the following requirements. National Stock Number Part Number 1377-01-043-8275ES 874000-01 1377-01-469-2437ES 876296-3 INSTRUCTION Provide relevant experience to include performing engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and testing of similar components in the last 5 years. Company Profile will include the following: A. Number of employees. B. Office Location C. CAGE Code D. DUNS Number E. Small Business designation/status claimed No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this synopsis or any follow up information requests. The Government has very limited technical data to provide to potential offerors. Offerors must possess access to all appropriate data. Kidde Technologies Inc, Wilson, NC has the capability and drawings for the Fire Extinguisher Cartridges and the government does not own or have the rights to use the data required to manufacture this device. Interested offerors shall respond to this Source Sought Synopsis no later than 3:00 PM 21 November 2011.
