- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS - PROVIDE PROPRIETARY NICKEL-BASED ALLOY CASTINGS ON A PROTOTYPE SCALE •I. INTRODUCTION Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), the management and operations contractor for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Idaho National Laboratory (INL), seeks a capabilities statement from prospective companies that are qualified and capable to provide proprietary nickel-based alloy castings containing a high tungsten content (>10% W in weight percent) on a prototype scale. Qualified responders may receive a formal request for proposal for the work. •II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION This work shall include providing proprietary nickel-based alloy castings on a prototype scale. The castings will contain a high tungsten content (>10% W in weight percent). Each casting shall be 16" x 16" x 2". Quantities shall be between 2 and 10, two slabs per casting/melt. The castings shall have a low porosity content (<1%) and the porosity shall not exceed 1 mm in diameter. Each Statement of Work shall be approximately three months in duration. Quality, repeatability and delivery schedule are more important than throughput capacity. •III. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Prospective companies shall provide brief statements of capabilities in the following areas: •1. Overview of the candidate company, perhaps in the form of an annual report or web page link; •2. Quality control and quality assurance capability and company's program for assessment/surveillance; •3. Technical expertise available to meet Statements of Work; •4. Any relevant past experience.
