Description
THIS IS NOT A PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE. The USGS has a requirement for conducting helicopter aeromagnetic survey in California to provide digitally recorded and processed aeromagnetic data. The contractor shall propose how they would design the survey altitude, survey operations, pre-flight planning (such as a preplanned flight surface), and data processing procedures to ultimately obtain gridded data observed on a surface 100 meters above terrain that is of the highest resolution and quality (minimal filtering and least amount of fight line noise). The objective is to map NW oriented faults and geologic structures in the Long Valley Caldera and Mono Lake areas. Total field aeromagnetic survey shall be flown along traverse lines oriented generally ENE-WSW (~65 degrees east of North) at 400 meters (0.24 mile) line spacing with a magnetometer ground clearance of 150 meters (500 feet) depending on mutual agreement on the survey design and processing procedures. Control lines shall be flown generally perpendicular to the traverse lines at 4.0 kilometer (2.4 mile) spacing. Optional line miles, if awarded, will be primarily located to the northeast, adjoining the Long Valley Caldera and Mono Lake areas. Data is required OVER POPULATED AREAS (congested areas in FAA terminology). The contractor shall propose how they shall obtain data OVER POPULATED AREAS especially the ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes. There may also be time and/or altitude restrictions over Mono Lake for gull nesting between April 1 and August 1, and possibly until September 1. An example of recently flown data shall be submitted with each contractors quotation. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to perform the above mentioned services. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required services or its functional equivalent (based on criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required services state herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exists. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request.
