Description
USCG CHEBOYGAN HOUSING 734 BLACKTHORN DR. CEU Cleveland Work Order 33-12-3003 - Cheboygan Housing Basement Leak PART 1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION 1.1 The Coast Guard requires a contractor fully qualified within the field of Excavation, Pipefitting, and Foundation Repair. Contractor is to provide all labor, materials and equipment necessary to repair crack on the foundation below the Northwest Basement Window of unit 734 Blackthorn. PART 2 SCHEDULING 2.1 All work will be conducted on Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. PART 3 SURFACE PREPARATION 3.1 Contractor is required to contact Miss Dig Prior to any excavation work to mark potential electrical and or gas lines in vicinity.. Contractor is to excavate existing grass and earth from below NW window at unit 734 Blackthorn all the way down to the foundation floor. Grass and Earth should be removed as to not cave in on workers. French drain runoff water system is in vicinity of the area being dug. Contractor is to remove existing French drain system during excavation. Removal of existing window well will be required to seal the crack. 3.2 Exterior wall and cracked surface is to be cleaned using pressure washer or other suitable method as to remove any contaminates from foundation wall before attempting to seal. Interior wall is to be cleaned using best source possible. Contractor is to then use hydraulic cement or a repair material that is better or equivalent to fill both the interior and exterior of the crack on the foundation wall. Once foundation crack has been sealed and set, contractor is to us a troll mastic system / Foundation coating to cover exposed foundation due to excavation operations. Foundation coating should cover past foundation crack facing east and west at a minimum of 2 feet to ensure a proper seal has been applied. Contractor is to then use either PVC, Heavy gauge plastic, or a material best suited for a foundation water barrier. A termination bar or similar is to be installed at the top of the chosen material. Once the material has been installed, a second coat of foundation coating is to be applied to all sheeting edges of the material to completely seal the repaired foundation crack. Contractor is to then install new window well to extend past frost/freeze level of ground. 3.3 French Drainage system using 3 inch drain lines as a minimum is to be installed back into excavated area with drain leading away from foundation. If current roadway drainage system lines in close vicinity are accessible this will be the preferred method of drainage for the system to be repaired upon re-installation. Basement window well is to have a drain line and cover plate installed and tied into either the new French Drain or the roadway drainage. Contractor will conduct Drainage test to ensure all connections are satisfactory prior to backfilling under inspection / review of a Coast Guard Representative. 3.4 Contractor is to fill excavated area and window well with like earth and slope grade away from house so that standing water will not pool next to the foundation. Contractor is to ensure backfill has been packed down to ensure no future sink holes or grade deteriorations. As a minimum, 1 foot outside of window well is to be Black Dirt / Top Soil fill. 3.5 Contractor will be required to replace grass, and repair any damages to grounds or surrounding property. Due to the timeframe of this project, sod will be the preferred choice of ground cover installation. If sod is unavailable, grass seed is to be used and covered with straw to prevent predation from animals. PART 4 MATERIALS 4.1 Government furnished materials: The Coast Guard will not provide any materials. The contractor shall supply all materials. 4.2 Contractor Supplied Materials: The contractor shall provide all materials necessary for a timely completion of the job. PART 5 APPLICATION 5.1 Follow all State and Local Construction Codes. PART 6 CLEAN UP 6.1 Contractor shall ensure all areas where equipment and work is being conducted are left in a clean and orderly condition. 6.2 Upon completion a local Coast Guard representative will inspect all work and cleanup of the area. PART 7 CONTRACTOR PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS 7.1 All work shall be accomplished in a professional manner and in strict adherence to current manufacturer standards and recommendations. 7.2 Contractor shall adhere to current codes, ordinances and OSHA safety regulations at all times. PART 8 QUALITY ASSURANCE 8.1 Any work that does not meet the approval of the U.S Coast Guard contracting representative shall be immediately corrected. Unsatisfactory work shall be redone at the contractor expense. PART 9 LIABLITY INSURANCE 9.1 It is the responsibility of the contractor to provide their own liability insurance for contractor and employees. In no case will the Coast Guard assume liability for bodily injury or property damage to the contractor and/or employees. COST Estimated cost is $10,000.00 SOURCE OF SUPPLY To be determined by BSD Cleveland.
