Description
The Department of Commerce/National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service awarded Purchase Order EE133E-12-SE-0375 as a firm fixed price in the amount of $12,000.00 to provide mission critical patches specifically Product Aletrt 40 (year 2012 issue) for its Quantum archive system StorNext 2.6.5. It is the Government's intent to negotiate as sole source with Quantum Corporation, Dallas, Texas in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.3 Other Than Full and Open Competition, Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The effective performance period is December 1, 2011 through January 15, 2012. The North American Industry Classification System code for this acquisition is 334112 with a size standard of 1,000 employees. The purpose of this notification is to provide notification that due to an error in the pricing the actual award amount would be increased above threshold required for posting of requirements. The award amount is being increased by $2,500.00 to $14,500.00 as a firm fixed price. In addition to the above, the Government has made a decision to provide an option for an option for a systems engineer at a proposed $200 per hour with the Government established maximum of 80 hours which would provide a life cycle value of $30,500.00. Therefore, it is not in the best interest of the government to compete this task as Quantum is the only contractor that can perform the work for the least cost and provides the best value to the government, considering that selecting another contractor would delay work and would require significant delays with mission critical data becoming unavailable until a solution is provided and remediation of the system vulnerabilities is addressed.
