- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with JEOL USA, Inc. in Peabody, MA for preventative maintenance and repair services for one (1) JEOL Model JSM-6400, Scanning Electron Microscope and one (1) JEOL Model JEM-3010, Transmission Electron Microscope for a base year and one option year. JEOL USA is the only source that can provide preventative maintenance and repair services for this equipment as they are the sole manufacturer and sole authorized service/maintenance provider. Third party vendors are not authorized to perform maintenance or repair services on these JEOL systems. In addition, the technology and parts are proprietary to the company. The resulting Purchase Order will be for one base year and one option year. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $19.0M or less. A sources sought notice was posted on November 25, 2011 and closed on December 09, 2011. No responses were received in response to the sources sought notice. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations.
