- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Quantum Electronics and Photonics Divison, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Electrogrip Co., 6945 Lynn Way, Pittsburgh, PA. 15208. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently owns and utilizes existing Electrostatic Chucks built and designed by the Electrogrip Co. Only Electrogrip Electrostatic Chucks are 100 percent compatible with each other. Electrogrip Co. does not utilize distributors for their manufactured equipment and is the only source for these items. It is imperative that the equipment being purchased is 100 percent compatible with the existing equipment. Electrogrip chuck parts are proprietary. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by December will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
