Description
On or about 3 January 2012, this office will issue a Request for Proposals for design and construction of the 13th CAB ASB Hangar, PN 77306, at Fort Carson, Colorado. The solicitation will close on or about 7 February 2012. This solicitation is UNRESTRICTED AND OPEN TO BOTH LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should attend the site visit scheduled for the project. A site visit has been scheduled for 12 January 2012 at 10:00 AM. Provisions in Section 00 21 00 of the solicitation documents will provide detailed information (meeting place, time, points of contact, and access requirements) for the site visit. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See 'Obtaining Solicitation Documents' below. Project Description: Design-build a rotary-wing aircraft operations and maintenance hangar at Fort Carson Colorado for the purpose of maintaining and repairing rotary-wing aircraft, complete with parts and tool storage, administrative operations, repair shops and all support equipment and facilities. The approximate net square footage of the facility is 120,500 square feet (an aircraft maintenance area of approximately 104,000 net square feet and 16,500 net square feet of Admin Space). Project includes approximately 475,000 square feet of new airfield concrete, 55,000 square feet of new airfield asphalt, and demolition of approximately 140,000 square feet of airfield concrete. Construction to include all required utilities, equipment, and site development (pavement for delivery trucks and car parking, walks, curbs, gutters, storm drainage, landscaping and other site improvements). The estimated construction cost of this project is between $50,000,000 and $70,000,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work in the proposed number of calendar days (NTE 540 calendar days) after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety.
