- Request For Information for An EDS system The Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) is seeking technical information for an energy dispersive microanalysis of X-ray spectrometer (EDS). This energy dispersive X-ray Microanalysis system should include the following at a minimum: (1)It should include a comprehensive hardware and software tools to acquire x-ray data, perform qualitative and quantitative analysis, image capture, image centric analysis, perform x-ray spectral mapping, and report results. This EDS system shall include technologies that are able to acquire and process data in seconds and give real-time analysis for elemental identification and composition determination. It should include a filtered least squares fitting algorithm for removing x-ray background from the spectrum, and perform peak ID and calculate peak areas automatically without user set up. (2)It should include a complete hardware chain approach to determine precise position, resolution and shapes of all element peak profiles to enable standard less quantitative analysis even for peaks with overlapping signals from different elements. (3)It shall include a liquid-nitrogen-free 50 mm2 active area Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) with a 127 eV resolution guaranteed on manganese (Mn). It shall include a super thin window which enables detection of element from Beryllium. (4)It shall include a Microscope image capture system, and a pulse processor. (5)It shall include data processing software that is compatible to read existing INCA project files captured previously in our laboratory. (6)This system shall consist of a 64-bit multi-threaded software, a quad core PC, which enables the user to acquire, analyze, and report data simultaneously. (7)It shall have the ability to acquire image up to 8Kx8K pixel resolution. (8)It shall have the ability to acquire multiple images from the microscope, and it shall have the ability to acquire 2 images simultaneously from the secondary electron and backscattering electron detectors. It shall be able to overlay images from different sites of interests. (9)This system shall be able to do multiple point spectrum acquisitions and be able to queue the multiple acquisitions. It shall be able to acquire spectrum from different shapes areas, e.g. circular, rectangular, elliptical, or freehand areas. (10) This system shall have the ability to acquire 4Kx4K x-ray spectral maps. This request for information should be considered an open call for providing the government information regarding the dispersive energy microanalysis x-ray spectrometer needs. The government expects some face to face contact and demonstration to ensure some specific requirements are understood and met. Therefore, we are looking for contractors who are local to the NSRDEC. This RFI (request for information) is solely for information purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or the issuance thereof. All information received in response to this RFI that is marked proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the government to form binding contract. Any information submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the government for such information.
