Description
Questions/Answers The below questions were submitted for the reference solicitation.. Q: Which transceiver is this cable going to plug into, is there a specific brand name and model? A: CMDC MT2012 SATELLITE TRANSCEIVER Q: Would you please include technical specifications for the cable identified (P/N 998-506B921-01) this looks to be a proprietary part number would you identify the manufacturer? A: Tech Drawing included - Aerospace Part # 506B921-01 - Do not believe this is a proprietary part number. Q: What is the exact distance between P2 and P3? A: 1-3/16 inch Q: The casing is identified as stranded silver, is the a color request or a material request. Please elaborate? A: This stranded silver does not refer to the case - only the grounding wire, which is grounded to the case, it should be stranded conductors. Q: What is the distance from P2 to the bottom of plug? A: inch Q: What is the distance from P3 to the top of the plug? A: 5/8 inch Q: Regarding P3 & P2 they are both installed on the same end of the cable, but I think they are molded into that end. The only separate connector appears to be the mate to P3, shown at the far right of the drawing. Let meknow what you find about the molded end (if that is what they are calling out). It appears custom molds would require and specific dimensional drawings would be required. If an equivalent to the spec is possible would that be an option? A: A separate connector mates to P2 and a separate connector mates to P3. Plug size could not exceed current outside dimensions. Equivalents would need to pass government review prior to contract award. Q: We have not been able to locate information on part # 001-388-55, which is the backshell on the spec sheet given on page 2. Is there any way you can find out any more information on this? A: Actual back shell is labeled with this part #: ITT 0808 J MS3111E8-4P Q: Bulk Cable 998-5068921-01 ( Do you know who makes this cable? ) A: Per drawing provided, MFG is Aerospace Systems Q: The Mold that houses P2 and P3. Is this an over mold or a case? The 614-773,614-773-01 and PEC 614-773-002 Do you know who molds this part? It is an over mold. A: Possibly molded by Aerospace Systems. Q: Back shell P3 001-388-55 ( Who's part number is this?) A: Unknown assumption is Aerospace Q: Does the customer posses the injection molding tool for the connector? A: Government does not possess the injection molding tool. If a non-molded connector is identified as a possible replacement, government needs to approve it prior to contract award. Specification data for the spools have been uploaded.
