- Description
- The Naval Research Laboratory intends to negotiate a contract on the basis of other than Full and Open Competition IAW10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) - only one responsible source. The source is The Boeing Company, 5301 Bolsa Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92647-2099 who is to optimize the technology awarded under Operationally Responsive Space Technology pertaining to the Navy High Integrity GPS (HIGPS) program for use in an operational environment. The Boeing Company developed a unique concept of providing GPS augmentation data and signal acquisition in a GPS jammed environment that leverages the existing Iridium satellite system. Iridium is a mobile satellite service communications system with global coverage that is comprised of a constellation of 66 satellites with on-orbit spares and the ground command and control infrastructure required to support it. This enabled Boeing to develop the augmentation infrastructure required to deliver the HIGPS capability to end users.
