- GENERAL ENGINEERING CONTRACTOR SOUGHT Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), responses to the University's pre-qualification documents for a fixed price construction Subcontract are sought for the following project: Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Sitewide Natural Gas Impressed Current Cathodic Protection System Project (RFP- 987) To be performed at: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory One Cyclotron Road Berkeley, CA 94720 Pre-qualification of Prospective Bidders:The University has determined that Offerors for this project must be pre-qualified. Pre-qualified firms will be required to have a valid California "A" General Engineering Contractor license and a C-57 Well Drilling Contractor license for this work. The C-57 license may be held by a lower tier subcontractor. Contractor's team must include a registered professional corrosion engineer or certified NACE cathodic protection specialist. The University is seeking responses from both large and small businesses. The University may elect to set this requirement aside exclusively for small business participation if a sufficient number of small businesses are pre-qualified. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ The objective of this project is to install an impressed current cathodic protection system for natural gas and compressed air piping as follows: Drill five deep wells to 153 feet and install six anodes in each well. Drill one shallow well to 48 feet deep and install two anodes. Install six rectifiers. Reconfigure five existing corrosion monitoring test stations. Provide electrical continuity bonding between compressed air and natural gas piping at eleven bond locations. Testing as required. The University intends to award a single lump sum subcontract for this work based on completed design documents. The subcontract will be issued under Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-05CH11231 between the University and the United States Government (hereinafter "Government"), represented by the Department of Energy (hereinafter "DOE") for the management and operation of the LBNL and the performance of certain research and development work. Estimated Price Range and Construction Period: The estimated total construction cost for the work is $400,000 to $600,000. Completed pre-qualification documents are due January 13, 2011.
