- Description
- The California Institute of Technologys (Caltech) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)near Pasadena, California, operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronauticsand Space Administration (NASA), seek to evaluate Thermal Protection System (TPS) optionsto support the technology development of Low Density Supersonic Decelerators (LDSD)Flight Test Vehicle. The objective of the Request for Information (RFI) is to determinethe interest and capability of potential proposers to design, manufacture, and deliverthe TPS to be used as part of the LDSD technology development. JPL is developing a seriesof airborne test vehicles in a technology development program focused on deceleratinglarge payloads from planetary entry velocity to landing on the Mars surface. The vehicleaeroshell is comprised of a backshell with an insulation blanket capable of withstandingtemperatures up to 600 degrees Celcius for up to 85 seconds. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the Request for Information, please send anotification by E-Mail directly to Michael Jacobs, JPL Subcontracts Manager atmichael.h.jacobs@jpl.nasa.gov and verify that the recipient of the RFI is a U.S. citizenwho can receive export controlled technical data. It is emphasized that the requested information is for preliminary purposes only and doesnot constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that JPL will solicit you for such aprocurement in the future. Neither JPL nor the government will be responsible for anycosts incurred by you in furnishing this information. Prospective subcontractors areadvised that any information provided shall be deemed to be furnished with unlimitedrights to JPL, with JPL assuming no liability for any accidental disclosure, use orreproduction of such data.
