- UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (U.S. DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Technical Assistance and Information Dissemination to the National Highway Traffic Safety Community Description United States Department of Transportation's (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) intends to award a sole source, Firm Fixed Price Contract for 12 months after award to the National Academy of Sciences to sponsor the activities of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) for technical assistance and information dissemination services, to assist the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in carrying out and fulfilling its safety mission for the following items. • Supporting a national and international program of motor vehicle and highway safety research; • Encourage and promote the establishment of research and analysis activities within all highway agencies; • Assist in the dissemination of research and analysis results through the operation and maintenance of the Transportation Research Information Service (TRIS); • Disseminate motor vehicle and highway safety research and analysis results and promote technology transfer; • Conduct special studies, workshops, and conferences in response to demands of the international, national, regional and local transportation communities to address issues of significant priority and immediate need; • Conduct reviews of various portions of NHTSA's research and analysis programs as well as organizing special review committees or conferences to focus on research and analysis questions. This requirement is a non-competitive acquisition and no solicitation is available. The proposed acquisition is to retain expertise and detailed knowledge of the technical assistance and information dissemination services for NHTSA's research activities that are aimed at reducing highway fatalities, preventing injuries, and significantly reducing the economic toll of motor vehicle crashes through data collection and analysis, research into highway safety issues, and the development of effective countermeasures which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with National Academy of Sciences.
