- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS) intends to award a sole source purchase order to the Advanced Measurement Technologies, Inc. (Ametek), 801 S Illinois Ave, Oak Ridge, TN 37830-9101, for the maintenance and repair of 33 Ametek instruments. The statutory authority for this sole source acquisition is 10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1) in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirement. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The period of performance for this procurement is 4 months. As the original equipment manufacturer of these instruments, Ametek is the only contractor that can provide maintenance support of Ametek equipment. Ametek possesses the patented technical data specific to the laboratory instrumentation currently being utilized. Accordingly, because instrumentation and software purchased are proprietary, no other manufacturer can provide the required software function upgrades and maintenance. As a result of this synopsis, no competitive solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps. We will issue only one solicitation to the Ametek. However, responsible sources that believe they can meet these requirements are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notice by providing a capability statement to the Contracting Officer by January 26, 2012. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action will be based on responses to this notice and are solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
