ICATION (AND DEVELOPMENT OF REQUIRED LOGISTIC AND TRAINING MATERIAL) OF AN IMPROVED TURBINE ENGINE IN ACCORDANCE WITH (IAW) THE DRAFT PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION AV-E-8593H (AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST). THE ITEP IS A 3000 HORSEPOWER ENGINE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES ADVANCED TURBOSHAFT PROPULSION CAPABILITY PRIMARILY FOR APPLICATION TO THE ARMY?S BLACK HAWK AND APACHE HELICOPTERS. THE ITEP IS BASED UPON ADVANCED AFFORDABLE TURBINE ENGINE (AATE) TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT, WHICH EMPHASIZES SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN PERFORMANCE CAPABILITY AND REDUCED COST OF OWNERSHIP THAT SUPPORTS THE DOD?S CAPABILITY NEEDS FOR MULTI-MISSION MOBILITY, PERSISTENT ENGAGEMENT, PROTECTION, AND PERSISTENT COMMAND AND CONTROL, INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE AND RECONNAISSANCE (C2ISR) PLATFORMS. ITEP IS FOCUSED ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND QUALIFICATION OF A NEW CENTERLINE, TURBOSHAFT ENGINE THAT IS NEEDED TO SUPPORT MODERNIZATION REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THE APACHE AND BLACK HAWK REMAIN OPERATIONALLY EFFECTIVE W! ELL INTO THE 21ST CENTURY. PREVIOUS REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION FOR THIS SUBJECT WERE ISSUED ON 22 JULY 2009, W58RGZ-09-R-0589.
