Description
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), in support of theProgram Executive Office (PEO) Command, Control, Communications,Computers and Intelligence (C4I), Battlespace Awareness & InformationOperations Program Office (PMW 120), intends to award a sole sourcemodification to contract N00039-12-C-0089 for an estimated value of $10.8M,to Smiths Detection, Inc., 2202 Lakeside Blvd, Edgewood, MD 21040, to providefor a quantity of four (4) Full Rate Production (FRP) METMF(R) NEXGEN systems.The authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1)and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and no other supplies orservices will satisfy agency requirements. METMF(R) NEXGEN provides Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) supportto the U.S. Marine Corps and Joint forces. The main functions of the systemare to collect, process and exploit, interpret, produce, and disseminate METOCdata. METMF(R) NEXGEN is a single increment replacement of the METMF(R)that provides greater mobility and operational flexibility in response toidentified METMF(R) capability gaps. Smiths Detection is the originalequipment manufacturer of the METMF(R) systems and is the only knownvendor with the highly specialized knowledge to produce these systems and toprovide supporting engineering services without incurring substantialduplicationof costs and unacceptable delay before the currently fielded METMF(R) legacysystems reach their End of Service/End of Life (EOS/EOL) in FY2012..Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact SmithsDetection, Inc. as follows: Carrie Kerem, Program Manager,carrie.kerem@smithsdetection.com, phone (410) 612-2570.
