Description
Draft SOW The National Institute for Deafness and Other Communication Disorders has a requirement to continue The Natural History of CMV-Related Hearing Loss and the Feasibility of CMV Screening as Adjunct to Hearing Screening in the Newborn-CHIMES. This is a Small Business SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE to determine the availability of potential small businesses (e.g., 8(a), Veteran-owned Small Business, Service-disabled Veteran-owned Small Business, HUBZone Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, and Woman-owned Small Business) to 1) address the relationship between the presence of congenital CMV and long-term audiologic/otologic outcome, and 2) address the clinical validity and utility of CMV screening in the detection of permanent hearing impairment in the newborn, as well as the prediction of hearing impairment with onset during infancy or in the early years of life. The requirement shall include 1) continue audiometric follow-up and diagnostics for enrolled infants who are CMV positive asymptomatic/symptomatic with no hearing loss in the sample populations; 2) continue utilization of validated CMV screening protocols, Manual of Procedures, forms, databases, processes for approval of ancillary studies, and publication policies effective to ensure continuity with the previous contract; 3) obtain information from ongoing newborn hearing screening and audiometric follow-up programs; 4) store results in a manner that will allow for linkage with newborn hearing screening results; 5) analyze data in collaboration with the contract statistician; 6) maintain the confidentiality of the data and to maintain current IRB approval at all study sites; 7) provide secure back-up of all data essential to the project; and 8) retain remaining samples used for testing for future experiments and store for future research purposes for the life of this contract. The anticipated period of performance is March 1, 2012 through September 1, 2014 for a period of 30 months. This is not a request for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations and does not commit the Government to any contractual agreement. Interested organizations that believe they possess the capabilities necessary to undertake this project should electronically (email) submit capability statements tailored to be responsive to the tasks described above. Capability statements shall be in PDF format. The contents of the capability statements shall be limited to fifteen (15) pages and no less that 10 font. Capability statements exceeding the page limitation will not be considered. Capability statements should be submitted to the kutal@od.nih.gov no later than Thursday, February 9, 2012, 4:00 PM EST.
